With a Bachelor of Arts from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Liberal Arts from the University of Richmond, Kris Spisak began her career as a college writing instructor. However, after six years in the classroom, she decided to shift her work toward professional writing and editing, first founding K. S. Writing, a company with a mission to bolster the literary arts community by connecting professional creative writers with businesses in need of their communication skills, and later partnering with Frank Petroski to found Midlothian Web. Kris has always had a fascination with the ways one can capture an audience with language—from knowing the rules of grammar to finding the right voice to applying the right web strategies for search engine optimization (SEO). The place where right brain and left brain meet is her favorite place to work.
Kris remains dedicated to following technology trends and innovations. She also still acts as a professional editor, helping those pursuing their publication dreams. Her book, Get a Grip on Your Grammar: 250 Writing and Editing Reminders for the Curious or Confused (Career Press, 2017), is designed for this audience as well as all who might have forgotten (or blocked out) everything their English teachers ever told them. She is the founder of Grammartopia and is pursuing the publication of her first novel.
Frank is a Zend PHP Certified Engineer who received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Philadelphia University in 1999. Joining the Internet industry in the late ‘90s, Frank experienced the monumental rise of the dot-com era and the historic burst of the dot-com bubble first-hand. Dedication, agility, determination, and initiative defined the successes of that era, and these traits were the foundation for Frank’s launching of Petrofy, a web development company focused on delivering a cutting-edge Internet presence to its clients. Frank believes in the collaborative and participatory culture of the worldwide development community and has embraced Open Source Initiative—particularly the PHP platform. He not only enjoys developing and implementing innovative applications utilizing the latest Internet-based technologies, he also enjoys tackling new challenges with a vast array of tools in his belt.
First at Petrofy and now at Midlothian Web Solutions, he has remained dedicated to responsiveness, integrity, and becoming a true partner in every client’s success. When he isn’t in front of his computer, he can often be found playing volleyball, bowling, cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles/Flyers/Phillies, or spending time with his family.
